White Night by Jim Butcher (407 pgs) 2007 (#9 in The Dresden Files)
The Dresden Files is one of my favorite fantasy series. Harry Dresden, amodern day mage acts as police consultant and defends Chicago against vampires, evil sorcerers, warlike fairies, and other menacing figures of the occult. While it wouldn’t be the best book to begin with (lot o’ backstory and recurred characters) #9 is a solid entry in the series. In White Night Harry again has various non-people trying to kill him for reasons he knows not. This round it involves murders camoflauged as suicide, with someone matching Harry’s half-brother’s description seen at the scenes.
